DBMM New Zealand
DBMM, De Bellis Magistrorum Militum, are wargames rules for ancient and medieval battles from 3000 BC to 1525 AD. The rules are written by Phil Barker and published by the Wargames Research Group Limited Publications. The rules, army lists and books are available from www.wrg.me.uk The purpose of this blog is to promote the rules in New Zealand by sharing information and photos. This blog replicates posts on the DBMM New Zealand Facebook, for those wargamers who do not use FB.
Vincent CholewaDirk Heinsius bugger. A bit like my Old Glory order that left the United States post Chicago international depot in May 10. It is en route. Phil Gates reckons the next bottleneck in their journey will be the backlog at the Auckland postal warehouse.
Dirk HeinsiusVincent Cholewa I’ve just had a package arrive from the States tracked. 23 days in total, 9 days of which was transit from LAX to AKL, suspect the delay was Auckland. Normal delivery time from that supplier is 10 days total
A question for the wise. I have a small Macedonian army based for Impetus on mdf bases, that I either want to rebase for DBMM. What's the best way to get the figures off the bases? Will soaking them in water for a while weaken the hold of the mdf and glue? https://www.facebook.com/groups/824840264342234/permalink/1509743585851895/
John GarveyYes, the best advice is to put them in a tray of water just deep enough to cover the bases. Leave overnight and the figs should just pop off.
John GarveyInterestingly I used to base using epoxy on cardboard bases, and the same technique worked. Except the bases dissolved and the figs ended up having a little plinth of epoxy!
James TrotmanIf you used superglue you can hold the figures base with a pair of needle nose pliers and the unit base in the other hand and give it a sharp twist - should come off clean. CA glue has very little torsional strength.
I think I'm in need of a level 2 gaming fix. Anyone interested in a home game over the next couple of weeks? I have a 6x4 table at my place in Khandallah so I guess can do DBM200 or I can come to you. Most evening are ok, weekend afternoons as well unless the weather is unusually good for this time of year. https://www.facebook.com/groups/824840264342234/permalink/1509711522521768/
Vincent CholewaAfter my game with Josh Barton, Thursday night, I highly recommend DBMM 200 as a great way to play a game in an evening, without time pressure.
