Hundred Years War English vs Tupi - posted by Josh Barton, 12 September 2020

Game 2 vs Alistair's Tupi ... bw(s) vs bw(s). Sorry about the lack of photos.

The terrain was wonderful, with a river and a marsh running down the middle and a gentle hill for my longbow. You can't hope for better!
Alistair had two commands, one on either side, whereas I deployed all three of my commands on one side of the river. The bd(s), and sp(o) would have the job of holding the bank while all of my bow and art took on one command...
Things didn't begin brilliantly, with the first shots from the Tupi killing a longbow and the fast blade being shot in and then overrunning the artillery..
However the spear pushed back the rest of the blade, and both Neville and King Edward were ready to plug the gap. The knight generals both charged and, in contrast to my burgundians both won.
The spear were hard flanked and killed, disheartening one of the English commands. However the longbow got the better of the Tupi bowman and disheartened half of Alistair's army.
Several more Tupi bow died, but they were able to flank the remaining spear and kill it breaking one of the English commands... except Alistair realised that his command had actually broken the bound before. A quick reset and suddenly the English were half an ME from victory with three functioning commands.
The Tupi command over the river began crossing and threatening the dismounted knights. However crossing difficult going was always going to be a stretch and with the death of one more Tupi blade the army broke giving the English a 22-3 victory!
Well that was a pleasant surprise. The terrain was definitely to my advantage and thankfully after a few early hiccups the longbow did what they do best and pincushioned everything in front of them.
A win was a nice change especially given my recent run. Next up is an army of El(X), so who knows how that'll go!
