A question about the Burgundian Ordonnance list - asked by Phil Gates, 11 October 2025

I'm list scrolling and have come up with a conundrum.
Book four, list 85, Burgundian Ordonnance.
One of the date defined options in the list is 1478-1506. This subset contains some pike, 30-64 elements of Pike (I). From 1480 those Pike (I) can become Pike (O).
From 1507, the year after the end of the date option above, you can get 4 Lansknecht Ps(S) per 8 Pk(O). Unfortunately, the preceding date option limits the availability of pike to the date 1506 and apparently nothing after that date.
So, assuming the pike are supposed to be available after the 1506 date limit, can other options from that date range (1478-1506) be available after 1506?
I feel that question is taking the p*** but who is to say yay or nay?

Thoughts?

Hi Phil this list is written in a confusing way. There is third time band, ‘Only from 1480 AD’ in which all the militia Reg Pk(I) upgrade to mercenary landsknecht Reg Pk(O). The Irr Ps(S) ratio from 1507 then makes sense.
The odd thing is that despite them militia pikemen being being listed in the section ‘Only from 1478 AD to 1506 AD’, you cannot actually use them after 1479 ðŸ¤·‍♂️

Vincent Cholewa one of many confusing lists. Middle Frankish does my head in too.

Philip Gates some of my armies can have a medieval German ally. That’s just, no! That German list is just crazy.

Hopefully a lot of list confusion will have been expunged in the upcoming iterations (no I did not get AI to right this).

I get the feeling that list building for these armies is an intelligence test to weed out those of us (myself included) not capable of running the jolly things.
