Okay to mix cavalry and foot on command base? Asked by Dan wade, 21 May 2025

Is this ok for a Command cavalry stand ordinary? Or do I need to have three mounted figures on the base. I’m trying to use these figures rather than use plastics.

In my opinion entirely fine. I have mixed command bases (usually two mounted and one foot but not always). The only thing I recommend is clearly identifying the actual element type to your opponent at the start of the game.

Looks brilliant! I mix foot and mounted on General's bases regularly. Recently managed to get 5 foot onto a single Spear General Base!

Hi Dan: Personally I'd go with the command base you've set up. It will make for a nice command diorama. Mike

I do the same thing with command stands. I clarify at the start ot the game that it's Cav (o) general, and I've never had anyone complain. K

Pretty sure anyone who freaks out about this being "not cavalry" is a player who should not be at the table...

Absolutely fine and looking good.
You just have to remember that their movement is 160p as the foot run to keep up with the horse😀

The DBMM lists specify mixed bases in some instances. E.g. 4/82 French Ordinance
