Have your say - possible themes for Levin DBMM competition 2025 - posted by Vince Cholewa, 30 July 2024

Thank you so much to everyone who has suggested themes for the Levin DBMM competition for next year and for all your messages. The options we are looking at are:
  • Persia and its enemies
  • Byzantines and their enemies up to the Battle of Dyrrhachium 1081
  • the armies of Islam.
A few questions to consider:
  • How do we define Persian? (Parthians?)
  • Start and end dates for the Persian theme to avoid a bronze age army being pitted against a high medieval army?
  • An end date for armies of Islam? Who wants to run into Kn(S) and Bw(S) with an early army?

All comments and musings are most welcome and if you have emailed me earlier, please feel free to copy and paste into the comments here.

When playing Persians does the terrain have to include a river? And possibly a musical theme by a 1970s German pop group?

Paul Graham I think you'll have to wait for them to process our complaints, the temple won't rebuild itself ðŸ˜¡

Actually Paul Graham play Medes if you want, for some reason I thought they were a post-Seleucid successor state, not pre-Achaemenid Persian, but entirely up to you. Happy to play whichever you want to, I had a history fail!
