Some of it was inspired by actual armour, but not the breastplate I'm guessing, which looks more like it was inspired by a woman in Conan the Barbarian.

It’s armour, Jim, but not as we know it. A selection of pieces from the Vivienne Westwood exhibition at Te Papa. Some of Westwood’s work was literally inspired by armour. The exhibition is open until April 27 and we loved it
