In Chris Blackler’s garage yesterday [Sunday, August 24]: Gavin Dodd (Alexandrian Macedonian) played his first ever game of DBMM when he took on Chris’s Late Imperial Romans. We used the DBMM 100 rules for a quarter-sized game and it was a stonking affair, swinging backwards and forwards. Chris wasn’t helped by being influenced by some “advice” that cost him his general (nothing to do with me - of course not!). In the end, the Romans prevailed and wargaming was the winner

A helicopter shot of early in the game. As it played out the companions and supporting light horse on the right did really well but then found themselves too far ahead of the phalanx. An excellent learning game.
