Sunday, July 5: Another meeting another new gamer. Welcome to Antony Nobbs who travelled from Whanganui to play ADLG ancients.
Well done Blair Glendinning (age 7) who finished his Battletech rifleman on Saturday so he could bring it to our meeting on Sunday. David Taylor couldn’t make it so Samuel did the honours bringing tea and biccies and Ken Hay continued as Master of the Key.
Five games were played. They were:

Bolt Action World War 2: Grant te Tau (British 8th Army) played Alan Cassidy (Early War Germans). Link to Grant’s post https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1E6V7tnkfd/?mibextid=wwXIfr
ADLG ancients: Antony (Seleucids) played Bryan Fowler (Lysimachids) using the terrain table tops Mark Conroy had made.
DBMM 100 ancients: Chris Blackler (Vikings) vs Brett (Italian Condotta).
Big Battle DBA ancients: Mike Waters and Stephen (Macedonians) vs Samuel and me (Athenians). The decisive actions were two of the three Macedonian generals meeting their makers. On my flank the opposing general got isolated, mobbed by my light horse, and then rolled 1 when 2 was enough to survive! On the other flank I think a dastardly hard flank was involved in the general’s demise. The loss of the two generals was not on its own enough to break the Macedonians but it left them unable to effectively counter the Athenians and soon enough further casualties disheartened two commands.
Next meeting: 10am, Sunday, July 19, Poroutawhao Hall. Mike is organising a 15mm Big Battle DBA game, details to come. As always, all periods, all rules and all scales are most welcome
