DBMM 100 in Levin - posted by Vince Cholewa, 14 April 2025

It was great to see four tables being used and five games played at our meeting yesterday [Sunday, April 13] at Levin East School. Welcome to Jeremy Smith who came along and played for the first time, Russ from the board gaming group that might be joining us (many thanks to Ken Hay for putting us in touch) and the eight children from the school who flocked in see Mr Taylor and what he was doing: “Did you paint those yourself? Cool!”. Bryan Fowler also came by to talk toy soldiers.
The games played were:
Warhammer the Old World: Jeremy Smith (Beasts) vs Ken Hay (Dwarves), practicing for ValleyCon.
Battletech: Rhys Hendry (pirates) vs Richard Glendinning (House Liao).
DBA: David (Mr Taylor) Macedonians vs Samuel Taylor (Spartacus). My apologies, I was not able to get a pic of this game.
DBMM 100: Me (Early Imperial Roman) vs Chris Blackler (Late Imperial Roman); and Chris (still Late Imperial Romans) vs Samuel Taylor (Medieval French).

Our next meeting will be 10am Wednesday, April 23. As always, all periods, all rules and all scales are welcome - see you there.

Samuel Taylor (Medieval French) vs Chris Blackler (Late Imperial Roman). David Taylor acts as Sensei. We used the middle 4’x4’ of a bigger table, drawing imaginary lines to mark the edges.

Chris Blackler (Late Imperial Roman) vs my Early Imperial Romans. The road marks the ends of the 4’x4’ playing area.

The Boss. He doesn’t do anything in the game, just a vignette I like to have on the table.

Warhammer the Old World: Ken Hay (Dwarves) vs Jeremy Smith (Beasts), practicing for ValleyCon.

Using a classic map as well
One of the mechs, I think.
