Good news from the Hutt Valley Wargaming Club. They will be meeting at St Patrick’s College, Silverstream auditorium while their regular venue, the hall at St Brendan’s School is being renovated.
Hi all - below is an email that's just gone out to our members about our temporary home. ________________________________________________________
We have secured
a temporary home for the club!
Before we get to the details, I'd first like to offer the committee's thanks to Lewis for all his work helping with locating and organising our new club meeting venue. It is very much appreciated. Thank you too for all of those who presented ideas for potential locations, we appreciate the effort put in to ensure that the club can continue to grow and operate, providing a space for us to play the games of toy soldiers we love.
Until the end of Term One of the school year the club will meet in the Auditorium at St Patricks College, Silverstream. The address is 207 Fergusson Drive, Heretaunga, Upper Hutt.
The first meeting here will be on the 8th of February and we'll be meeting on our normal club schedule on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. There will not be a meeting on the 26th of April for ValleyCon.
The committee will provide more info about how the new venue works (where our kit is, where the toilets are, etc) as people arrive on the 8th and also will be able to he January 2025lp people in finding the Auditorium - the grounds of St Pats are a bit bigger than St Brendans!
Club meetings will start with doors opening at 0900 on club day and we'll finish up about the usual time around 1630.
A few things to note about our new venue:
* There's plenty of parking onsite and on the street next to the school but we will be sharing it with Saturday morning sports when those kick off at the school so please be considerate with your parking.
* Do not park on the lawns.
* Please don't turn up early and sit in your car on school grounds.
* This is a temporary arrangement that depends on us looking after the venue so please take care of the Auditorium. Us getting the basics right, like not dragging tables across the floor and making sure to tidy up our rubbish will ensure that we continue to be able to access the space. If there are any issues, let the committee know.
* There will be students onsite during term time, even at weekends, as well as multiple sports games in season, so be aware and respectful that we might be seeing more members of the public
* We're on school grounds and the same rules forbidding smoking or alcohol on the grounds still apply
The committee will keep in touch with St Brendans and see how things are proceeding with renovations there as well as with St Pats and make sure everything's going swimmingly from their perspective. Our agreement with St Pats allows for us to discuss extending if things at St Brendans take longer.
