Romans win at Alesia and Hutt Club takes the Elephant Trophy - posted by Neil Williamson, 19 October 2024

Just for something different, the Masterton Marauders faced off v HMWC.
We played 3 games of DBMM 100 with the Gauls v Caesar's Romans. The results of these battles affected the deployment and reinforcements for a loose recreation of the Battle of Alesia, Julius v Vercingetorix.
The final battle was a large 8 player game.
Julius played a crucial role defeating Vercingetorix shortly after Vercingetorix had defeated a Roman command. He then turned his attention to defeat the British allies who were embroiled with another Romand command.
Meanwhile, the 3rd Gallic relieving force stood off against the 3rd Roman command and the Gallic forces in the village struggled to mobilise.

The Romans won, and HMWC ran off with the elephant trophy.

After the battle, Julius was stabbed in the back by his commanders.

“Hutt, hutt, hutt!” Might be more associated with camels than an elephant (with apologies to Mr O’Toole) 🐘 🐪
