Where can hidden obstacles be placed? Asked by Vince Cholewa, 30 October 2023

Where can hidden obstacles be placed? Initial deployment, p.22, says: “The army deploying first must not deploy any elements or obstacles further forward than 240p short of the battlefield centre line, or the other army any elements or obstacles further forward than 400p short of the battlefield centre line, unless in a BUA or in ambush.” The rest of that section then describes more limits on where elements can deploy but makes no further mention of obstacles.
Does this mean hidden obstacles can be deployed all the way to the edge of the table so long as they are sufficiently back from the centre line?
Hidden obstacles, p.16, says HO are marked on the map at the end of stage 2 of deployment. Stage 1 is when the position of commands is recorded.
Does this mean that HO are not included in any particular command and are deployed independently of commands?

Your thoughts and discussion are most welcome. No, this is not pondering for Call to Arms, where I will be using Brent’s Byzantines, which do not have HO.

Yeah true but that Legionary had to march and form Testudo alone!
