Normans vs Post-Mongol Samurai - posted by Barry Norris, 28 November 2021

And in the most historical match up of the day the 1066 Normans led by William aka Gary Lewis met the post-Mongol Samurai.

A hard fought encounter with the monks once again proving their metal by going unreliable (which slowed me slightly but didn't impact the game). My right flank broke, the monks were disheartened and on the other side the Bretons broke. My main command finally disheartened and we called it a well fought win to the Normans. We didn't score it but I say 21-4.

The Normans start their advance. Unused to having more LH than an opponent they immediate start a flank march.

On the Samurai side the shogun is sending threatening letters to the monks on the left flank (nearest in this picture). They are shamed (or scared) into waking up next next bound.
In the centre the Norman blades got a bit chewed by the Samurai but that just left a space for the Milites. Here the reserve mounted Samurai look on.

Monks holding the Norman blades and psiloi. (With a little help from the reserve Samurai blade).

Norman psiloi sneak through the woods.

There were once Sp(I) in front of the Cv(O) - but they didn't do well. The Cv followed them a little later.

Another view of the centre. The CinC realises that having a shiny standard won't save them.

An this is the sadness that is the Samurai right. It broke not long after this.

And many men with shiny toys on the Samurai right.
